As New York Fashion Week (sadly) comes to a close, the fashion and beauty world is buzzing with reflections, feedback, opinions and inspiration about the Fall 2012 designer collections. What were your favorites? While many fashion trends emerged and were reinforced, hair styles were also making statements. Below are a few hairstyle notes from the runways:
Cynthia Rowley Fall/Winter 2012 Show, Lead Stylist: Duffy
Stylist Inspiration: “Cynthia and I wanted the hair to play with texture for the hair look. The clothes this season are so structured we wanted to contrast that with the hair. The idea of this look was for it to be free flowing; there is no beginning and no end.” – Duffy
About the look: This season’s hair look was all about texture! While three different textures were used on each model, the final look varied. “This season there isn’t one Cynthia Rowley girl; the casting is diverse and each hair look is unique to the girl.” – Duffy
How Duffy created the look:
Mouse was applied to the hair and it was rough dryed with the amika NRG Professional Hair Dryer
A figure-eight technique was used (around the crown of the head) which was created by pinning the hair around bobby pins
The figure-eight shape was sealed in with heat from the amika x Cynthia Rowley styler
Tight curls were created using a hot rod
The hair was then dragged out and brushed to create volume
Pieces were pulled and pinned
Since each girl’s hair was different Duffy selected the final style based on each individual girl, their personality and the clothes they looks they were modeling

About the Look: “It’s a very graphic look. Vicky always loves these kinds of lines which is why we’re leaving the waterfall of hair from the crown, so it’s like a waterfall when it cascades down.” – Bob Recine
How Bob Recine created the look:
Mousse was applied to the hair
Hair was blow dryed straight with the Amika NRG Professional Hair Dryer
Hair was then sectioned and straightened by Amika Ceramic Styler
Hair Spray was applied to a brush and the hair was brushed straight
Hair was parted (Bob Recine chose either a side part of center part depending on the girl)
Hair was once again straightened using the Amika Ceramic Styler
A triangular section of hair, “upsidedown pyramid” at the crown (to be released later), and was pulled back and combed down the sides
The rest of the hair was pulled into a low pony tail and secured with an elastic
The remaining section of hair was straightened for a final time, using the Amika Ceramic Styler, and layed over the low pony tail
The look was finished with hair spray

How Martin Cullen created the look:
Hair was blow dryed straight with the Amika NRG Professional Hair Dryer
Hair was then sectioned and straightened by Amika Ceramic Styler
Create a side part and spray with hairspray for shine and definition
Finish with hydrating cream for a faint hint of texture towards the bottom of the hair
