Let’s face it: casual is the norm when it comes to everyday dressing. What do you wear when you don’t have to dress up? My daily uniform is a pair of skinny jeans, a blousy tee-shirt and flats. Nothing fancy, and comfort is always key. Some women wouldn’t be caught dead out of the house in sweats; while for others it’s their go-to outfit. Take a look the outfits these celebrities chose for their “off-days”:
Look 1: Shorts and Army Jacket
Topping a laid-back pair of shorts with an army jacket keeps things easy and unfussy. While shopping in Studio City, Vanessa Hudgens paired high-wasted shorts with a casual white tank, and the studded army jacket by Blue Moon ($158). Love how she takes a bit of a risk with the print shorts, but pulls everything together with the jacket. Her cute short hair cut and shoulder bag complete the casual look.
Look 2: Maxi Dress and Wedges
A maxi dress is just about the easiest thing you can wear. All it needs is simple jewelry and a great pair of sandals. Here, Jessica Alba heads to the salon in her army green Lanston Knit Maxi Dress ($158), colorful tote and wedge sandals. She tops the dress with a gauzy white button down, worn open. The asymmetrical hem of the dress emphasizes the shoes. This look would be perfect for everything from appointments to the beach, and could easily be dressed up for cocktails or dinner.
Look 3: Wide Leg Pants and Slouchy Tee
As comfy as sweats, linen wide leg pants are, in general, a bit dressier. While hanging in West Hollywood, Hilary Duff dons relaxed drawstring linen wide legged pants by krisa (On sale for $60) and a slouchy white t-shirt, with flip-flops and a low pony. Her green print bag and pale nail polish add a bit of color to her outfit. These pants would also look cute with a fitted tank and chunky necklace.
If drawstring pants fall too close to the end of the casual spectrum, pair your slouchy top with more structured jean trousers like Easy A star Aly Michalka. Here, she wears the ASTARS Just Sing Slouchy Top> ($84) with David Kahn Denim Katharine Trousers ($158) for an effortlessly laid-back look.
Look 4: Colored Denim and Heels
On the other hand, casual does not have to mean slouchy. Ashley Greene goes for a sophisticated take on informal with fire engine red skinny jeans by BLANKNYC ($74), a fitted black sweater, black and white clutch and pumps. This outfit has a hint of Hollywood glamour with the oversized sunnies and red lipstick.
