Skincare 101: 4 Products for Flawless Skin in Hot Weather

by Lindsay Ware

Summer has officially arrived! The beach, the sun, the drinks… and the oily skin. Many women (and men) struggle with their skin in the summer months. Between the sweat and the pore-clogging sunscreen, skincare often takes a backseat during the summer.

The “no extra time for skincare” excuse is now outdated, thanks to a few life-saving products. Now, the routine for healthy and breakout-free skin is simple and quick, and it’s so easy to adapt to. Just switch out your usual products for these ones during the summer, and you’ll be set!

  1. Face wash

Odds are, you already use a face wash in your daily routine, so this product is an easy transition. The pore penetrating charcoal bar from Bioré is sure to clear out your pores in no time. It also absorbs excess oil to keep you shine-free all day long.

  1. Sunscreen

You really never want to skip this step. You’ve heard it from your mother before, and she’s right – sunscreen really is essential. Instead of using regular sunscreen on your face, invest in a facial one to minimize pore clogging and oil production. Our favorite? The Clinique Pep-Start Daily UV Protector Broad Spectrum SPF 50.

  1. Foundation

During the summer, it’s better to let your skin breathe a little bit, so try and find a good foundation that isn’t quite as heavy as the one you might use during the colder seasons. If you don’t need a lot of coverage, switch to a tinted moisturizer, like the one from Glossier. It’s also SPF 30, so you can get coverage and sunscreen in one product! Bonus!

  1. Oil Blotting Tissues

These are truly lifesavers. Throughout the day, oil production can pick up and make your face shine in a less-than-desirable way. Instead of using powder to cover it up (which can actually make the problem worse), toss a pack of oil-blotting sheets into your purse. We love the Boscia Clear Complexion Blotting Linens.
