Don’t get me wrong, I love getting all glammed up. Show me a bright lipstick and a red-sole shoe, and you’ve got my attention. But most of the time, I prefer my look to be a little more natural. It is easy to have natural style without looking sloppy. (Save those sweatpants and ratty UGGs for another day). Here are a few of my favorite ways to get the look:
Cleanse and Prep Skin: Washing your face can irritate skin. Use a gentle cleanser specially formulated for sensitive skin. Soothe redness and smooth lines with a skin serum. I received a sample of Seventh Generation’s All Natural Skin Serum and have been using it daily after washing my face. The serum contains oat extract which helps to improve tone and texture. Right after cleansing, I usually go straight to the moisturizer, but this has been an effective new step in the process. After smoothing on Seventh Generation’s skin serum, my skin feels softer and more evenly toned. Follow this step with a good moisturizer (with SPF of course).
Light Makeup: Seventh Generation skin serum leaves skin smoothe enough that you could go without makeup, but I like to add a bit of mineral powder. My favorite is bareMinerals® Matte Foundation SPF 15. A little goes a long way.
Finish off with a nude lip. I am obsessed with Red Apple Lipstick in Oh My Guava. The formula is gluten and paraben free which is a major bonus.
Easy Hairstyle: For the easiest natural look, wear hair down and spritz with sea salt spray for beachy waves. You can easily DIY your own spray with sea salt, coconut oil, gel mixed into a spray bottle. Or, if opt for a messy updo, and secure with Emi-Jay Hair Ties. They come in packs of 3 and won’t tangle hair.
Effortless Fashion: My favorite All Natural Style Secret? Wearing easy, comfortable pieces that still manage to look chic. A long gauzy maxi dress, like the moss green Endless Summer Triangle Top Maxione by Free People looks amazing alone or topped with a denim or leather jacket and floppy hat. I love a good pair of retro-inspired sunglasses, like these Cat Eye one’s by Leith are tough to pass up at only $22. Finally, finish your look with a pair of flat leather sandals, in mixed shades and barely there straps.
