Last week I had the pleasure of attending the Macy’s Holiday Preview, where local fashionistas gathered to browse top gift items, nibble gourmet snacks and glean some holiday how-to-tips fashion and beauty tips from Darcy Camden & Tiffany Lowry.

Their quick ‘day to play’ tips for holiday outfits and makeup, were super helpful during this busy time of year. I like how your whole look can go from day to evening with a simple change of shoes and addition of some sparkle. Darcy talked about mixing metals – anything goes with this trend – and encouraged us to not be afraid to mix it up. I totally agree!
Holiday Party Outfits – Stay warm with a cozy coat
For holiday gatherings, jewel tones make a bold statement. Darcy styled a blue lace dress multiple ways, by adding a belt here or cropped jacket there. If you have a dress that fits you well and that you love to wear, but feel like you could wear it to every holiday party, try to change up the look by adding different metals – silver cool tones for one look and gold warm tones for another. You can also easily change an outfit with the addition of a jacket – she paired a tuxedo blazer with one dress and a cozy fur lined coat with another for two equally distinct looks.

Tiffany shared some of her beauty favorites, from full-service makeup pallets to tiny tubes of miracle potions. (Origins No Puffery, you are on my shopping list). She also demonstrated how you can get a day to evening look by refreshing your makeup and changing your hair style. (I especially loved the side bun she whipped up in less than 10 seconds).

After the style presentations, we were able to view some great gift items that will be available on Black Friday and through the weekend. I got tons of inspiration for gifts for friends and family, as well as teachers and to take to holiday parties as hostess gifts.
