Lace has been a huge trend this year. One way I love to see it worn is on a top. A lace blouse is pretty and feminine, yet made totally modern when paired with tougher pieces like denim and leather. It also works well for both day and night. Pair with a blazer, pencil skirt or slacks and heels for work. Then, when it’s time for happy hour, swap out your blazer for a trim leather jacket and a hot pair of jeans. Here are a few lace blouses I am loving right now.

Taking inspiration from menswear and ladylike pieces alike, style icon Alexa Chung continues to churn out fashionable items for her Madewell line. The Patrice Top ($155) is made from white scalloped-edge lace. But what makes it work so well? The metallic thread throughout takes the top from granny’s closet to a girl with some edge. The blouse is pretty on it’s own, but you could throw a blazer on in chillier temps. Sheer lace, pleats and elasticized cuffs give the WallpapHer Long Sleeve Lace Top ($38) an Edwardian feel. Worn over a basic tank with jeans, the look is casual and cute. Joie’s Fanny Lace Top ($228) is a blouse with gamine appeal. Details include a scalloped hem, eyelash fringe and ruching. The wide neck and keyhole back add a flirtatious touch. Finally, J Crew’s Lady Lace Popover Top ($149.99) is the perfect pick for casual days. Wear it with ankle length jeans and flats for some French girl inspiration.
What do you think of lace tops? How would you wear one?
