I am in total support handbags as an ‘investment pieces’, but I also think that real-life budgets and simple practicality do not always allow for splurges. That’s why I was excited to learn about Emilie M handbags, a line of stylish bags in classic silhouettes at a price point just under what you could probably pay for a designer wallet. Founded in 2012 by entrepreneur Solomon Hedaya, Emilie M. bags are functional, fashionable, and great for everyday use.
The folks at Emilie M reached out and gave me the opportunity to try out a bag, and sent the Shelia Compartment Bag ($90).
What I love: As a busy working mom, I go from dropping off kids at school, to office, to after school activities and appointments in-between. My usual handbag becomes a bottomless pit of to-do lists, business cards, snack wrappers and baby wipes, with the occasional sticker or toy. The Sheila bag has multiple compartments – a main (center) pocket for essentials like wallet, cell phone, makeup bag. It also has two outer pockets, which I can easily fit a notebook for meetings on one side and a pull-up and snack on the other! The bag works great for my double-duty life.
What I wish was different: While the style and the functionality of my bag is spot-on, I wish it came in a larger size. I love a bag I can throw a pair of flats in for my commute. However, there are several options that are a bit larger on the site.
Bonus! Just in time for the holidays, Emilie M. is adding an Essentials Box to your order for $25. The kit includes several ‘extras’ such as an umbrella, scarf, wallet (that doubles as a cross-body mini bag) and makeup bag to complete your look. A fun gift idea for that friend who loves accessorizing.
