Kérastase Beauty Review

Let it be known: I’m a huge straight iron enthusiast. My naturally curly/wavy hair can be great, don’t get me wrong. But sometimes, I want a sleek and straight look for my locks. Since I have to seriously slow down and be meticulous with layers while I flat iron, my hair winds up looking straight in the end, but also flat on my head, without any body. Lame.

I’m always perusing Pinterest for straight hair inspiration, and I can’t help but notice that the one thing that most of the pictures have in common is that the straight hair isn’t glued down to their heads, but rather lifted at the roots a bit. Lucky for me, I received a few samples from Kérastase Paris to try out to see if I can liven my roots a bit and make my Pinterest dreams a reality.

After my regular shampoo and conditioner routine, I towel dried my hair and brushed it out, prepping for the product trials. The first product that I gave a try was the Kérastase Forme Fatale Voluptuous Blow-dry Gel. I applied a quarter sized amount all throughout my hair, focusing more on the ends than the roots. It absorbed quickly into my hair, and it didn’t feel greasy or sticky, which was a bonus! Following the gel, I squeezed some of the Lift Vertige Root-Uplifting Gel onto the roots of my hair, putting more of it in the bang region, where I desire more lift. By the way, this product won an award in Best of Beauty for Allure magazine in 2013, and for good reason! After blowdrying my hair, I could tell that the roots were lifted a lot more than usual, but the real test was how it would stand against the flat iron process. I am very pleased to say that even after straightening it all, layer by layer, my hair remained lifted and full of body, making my hair appear thicker than ever! There isn’t any greasy residue left over, and my hair feels, looks, and smells great. I will definitely keep using these products, and I recommend the same to you!
