October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Many of us have been touched by this disease; whether personally, or someone you know has been affected. This month we take the time to remember those who have survived breast cancer and those who have lost the fight. We also remember to take care of ourselves by doing breast exams. Through awareness and education, we can all do our part to help win the fight against this horrible disease.
Tons of designers and merchants are highlighting products that help us “do good” while we shop. Proceeds from the sales of these products go to cancer research and charities. Below are great jewelry pieces to accessorize with while doing your part to fight breast cancer.
1) Exclusive to Shopbop, this rosegold talon necklace from Made Her Think ($78) has a textured pendant hanging from a ball-chain. 50% of proceeds will go to benefit the Breast Cancer Network of Strength – an organization whose mission it is to ensure, through education and advocacy, that no one faces breast cancer alone.
2) Designed with Laura Elizabeth by breast cancer survivor Marla Zack, the Wings of Courage Necklace ($105) comes in silver or gold and has Butterfly & Ribbon design which stands as a “symbol of healthy renewal of the delicate beauty of life, and of the strength and power of hope”. 20% from the sale of each necklace is donated to weSpark Cancer Support Center and the Young Survival Coalition.
3) 100% of profits from Adesso’s Butterfly Project Necklace no. 1 ($1,345) goes to The Butterfly Project. This worthy cause raises money to support the Brenda L. Caplan Memorial Scholarship Fund for FORCE, a non-profit organization whose mission is “to improve the lives of individuals and families affected by hereditary breast and ovarian cancer.”
4) The Grace Sterling Silver Pink CZ Ring ($24.95) punches up any outfit. 10% of proceeds will be donated to the Avon Foundation for Women.
5) Alexandra Beth Designs Rose quartz bracelets ($66 each) have pretty cubic zirconia pave accent beads. 10% of proceeds will be donated to Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure Global.
